Alternative Education Cooking

Alternative Education Cooking

Alternative education cooking works with young people to create positive bespoke learning opportunities through cooking, enabling young people to learn in a relaxed environment at their own pace.

The sessions are young person led, developing their curriculum in tandem with the young person’s area of interest (pastry, cakes, savoury, sauces, soups etc.)  Young people can explore different cuisines and methods of cooking, as well as develop their own recipes and ideas. Skill based learning is woven into the sessions, such as good hygiene practices, safe knife skills, terminology (whisk, fold, beat, fine dice), as well as work based learning including organisational and time management skills.  Emphasis is placed on building skills for life and work based skills moving forward, as well as growing young people’s confidence to achieve wider goals and aspirations.
